Water Version 8

Some of you asked for diagonals, well, here they are. This is a departure from all the previous layouts. I find it both dynamic and calm at the same time.  Is it just me?

Of course, to do this I will end up with a whole bunch of offcuts, so I think I would make more as I'm hoping to make this a larger quilt. Not a big deal, just something for me to consider.  It also means there is potential for longer runs in the design.

Here is it flipped 90 degrees. (And without the use of flash photography.)

Don't forget to take a look at the other participants in the Workshop in Progress.  Some of them are already posted projects.  Elle is looking for opinions on salvaging an old project with a favourite fabric.  And Kate is hoping for some additional thoughts as she designs a baby quilt.

And me?  Well, it's been a long week with Hubby out of town and breaking in the new nanny. Tonight I am settling in with my newly arrived copy of Bend The Rules With Fabric, courtesy of Amy Karol at Angry Chicken. I won a contest a few weeks back and I can already feel the need for some uninterrupted creativity time!

I really love this.
Your right, it is calming.
Makes me want to curl up with it on the beach.

Yours is home tonight?
Mine is at 8:30 pm.
Thank goodness.
I'm ready for some "It's your turn to ______."

This is my hands down favourite! It grabs my eye both because of the changing colours and the changing directions. Love it!

I think this is the best yet! As you said, it's calming but it isn't boring, there's lots of places where my eye moves to.

This is for sure my favorite. It has a great flow to is, but is very dramatic at the same time. Love it!

I like this a lot. I like the movement, like waves. You could use a wave pattern to quilt it.

This just "feels" right.

Ooh, I really like this lay out. It is hard to explain but it just works really well. Excellent progression.

This is definitely my favorite so far!

Yep. This is my favourite :-) I like the way that the changing directions makes it interesting, but the angles seem less severe on the diagonal which I think makes it more calming. Nice!

I'll have to say this one is my favorite version. :o)

This is very nice. Not sure it is water but I do see that it has a calming effect in spite of having lots of movement. A thought: if you need to make more, can you a small version of this in your 'lane'?

I think this might be a new favorite, but I still really like the last one as well-they are so completely different! I don't know how you are ever going to make a decision on which one to make!!

this one and version four are now running neck and neck for me. I definitely like the lack of obvious separating strips.

Oooh! I think this may be the one.

Oh yes, these diagonals speak to me on many levels. Hands down my favorite, from whichever side you take the photo, Cheryl. Great work, the colors calm and sustain me.
